Watch Harry Styles cover Talking Heads’ ‘Psycho Killer’ (and dress as NYC ‘pizza rat’) at final night of MSG residency

Harry Styles wrapped up his huge residency at Madison Square Garden over the weekend, performing a special Halloween show that saw him cover Talking Heads and dress up as the infamous NYC ‘pizza rat’.

The gig took place on Saturday night (October 31) as the very last show of his 30-date residency at the iconic New York venue.

Dubbed ‘Harryween’, Styles dressed up to mark the occasion, taking to the stage in a full rat costume and carrying a massive piece of pizza – a nod to the viral 2015 video of a rat running around the city’s subway carrying a slice. His backing band came in costume too, with their outfits including other New York classics including a yellow taxi and a hot dog.

Halfway through the 22-song set, he swapped out the full rat costume for a simple shirt that read “I AM A RAT”, paired with a shorts with a tail attached and matching ears. He also broke out his first live cover of the Talking Heads classic ‘Psycho Killer’, as well as his own fan favourites including ‘Aperture’, ‘Sign Of The Times’ and ‘As It Was’.

The venue displayed memorabilia from the 10-week residency on its sixth floor to celebrate the final residency show, and also installed a commemorative banner on its rafters to mark the date.

During the performance, this year’s NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson also came out briefly as a special guest, presenting Styles with a similar banner.

Saturday’s show marked the second of two ‘Harryween’ gigs the singer had planned, and the night prior saw him show up with two outfits: one of Elvis Presley’s signature white jumpsuit, cape and gold sunglasses, and one replicating the outfit he wore for his The X Factor audition in 2010.

While in the latter, he covered Stevie Wonder’s ‘Isn’t She Lovely’, which he sang to judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh as part of the audition when he was just 16. He also told the crowd that he “works in a bakery” – which he did at the time of the original audition.

The 2026 shows come as an extension of his ‘Harryween’ tradition at the venue. Back in 2021 he also dressed up, performing  as Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz and as a clown, and in 2022 he dressed up as Danny Zuko from Grease and covered Olivia Newton-John‘s ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’.

Following the completion of the Madison Square Garden shows, Styles will now head over to Melbourne and Sydney for the last of his 2026 shows, before picking the tour up again in the new year for dates in the UK, Europe, the US and more, with support from Kylie Minogue and LCD Soundsystem.

Reviewing the ‘Together, Together’ tour in Amsterdam in May, NME awarded the performance five stars, praising its sense of community and describing it as “a hopeful celebration of community and connection”.
