Academy Award nominee Amanda Seyfried and her husband, fellow actor Thomas Sadoski, have announced their separation after nine years of marriage. In a joint statement, they said it was best for their family.

The two told People: “We have been separated for a while, and it’s proven to be the right move for us and our family unit. We’ve got each other forever—and it’s GOOD."

The pair met in 2015 and confirmed their engagement in September 2016, quietly marrying in March of the following year.

They have two children together: a daughter, Nina (born in 2017), and a son, Thomas Jr. (born in 2020).

Seyfried and Sadoski have worked together multiple times, firstly on the off-Broadway play The Way We Get By, written by Neil LaBute, which ran in 2015. They then starred in The Last Word, a comedy-drama movie that also featured Shirley MacLaine and Anne Heche.

Seyfried's career has been firing on all cylinders in recent years. She scored a huge hit late last year in The Housemaid alongside Sydney Sweeney, as the movie grossed over $400 million worldwide from a budget of just $35 million.

Seyfried also won huge acclaim, plus a Golden Globe nomination, for playing the title role in historical musical drama The Testament of Ann Lee, which landed earlier this year.

She has recently given her voice to the character of Cinderella in Netflix animation Steps, due out in November, and she'll be returning to musicals in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Octet, also starring Rachel Zegler, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Phillipa Soo, Gaten Matarazzo and Jonathan Groff among others.

Fans will no doubt be hoping that the long-discussed Mamma Mia! threequel will also be in her diary at some point in the not-too-distant future.

Sadoski, meanwhile, starred as Matt Short in the hit show Life In Pieces and has also featured in thriller series The Crowded Room, biographical drama American Sports Story, and in multiple stage shows.
