Selma Blair Apologizes for Plane Arrest: “Not One Day Have I Intended to Hurt or Frighten Anyone”

Selma Blair is apologizing for her Oct. 11 plane arrest, where she allegedly assaulted two flight attendants onboard a Delta Los Angeles-New York flight.

“Hi. It’s me, and I know I’ve been quiet for a couple of weeks since October 11th, and you deserve to hear from me directly, and I’m sorry that it’s taken this long,” the actress said in an Instagram video Friday. “There is a legal matter going on, and my lawyers have asked me to not say anything about that day, and I’m listening to them. And I take this very seriously.”

The Legally Blonde star noted that “what I can tell you though is very simple, and the truest thing I know about myself [is] that not one day ever have I intended to hurt or frighten anyone, a day in my life.” She continued, “And so to the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, that I frightened, alarmed; I am so sorry.”

Blair was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Oct. 11 after an alleged incident on a Delta plane that resulted in two flight attendants being injured and one being sent to the hospital. Blair was also transported to the hospital after the outburst, and she also allegedly repeatedly kicked the police officer who took her to the hospital and a nurse in the chest.

She pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault, while separate charges from the FBI are expected to come as the agency investigates all assaults that occur onboard aircrafts.

Blair thanked those who have reached out and “sent wishes of love or caring. It has meant everything to me and my son, who is my world, as a scout who is also OK.”

“So right now, I’m going to be taking care of my health and my son and thinking of you all with gratitude and love,” she concluded.

Blair’s spokesperson previously spoke out, releasing a statement that read, “Selma Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight. There was no attempt to open the door of the aircraft. Selma did not intend to harm anyone.”

Her attorney Shawn Barnes said in a court appearance after the incident that Blair had been working “extensive hours and exhaustive hours” ahead of the flight, and also hit her head on a bankhead. “These factors, coupled with the altitude, resulted in a state of severe confusion and disorientation,” Barnes said in court.

In a separate statement, Blair’s rep said, “The suggestion by anyone that Selma does not have multiple sclerosis is outrageous,” she has the neurological condition pseudobulbar affect, “which bears directly on how a medical episode presents to people who do not know her.”

“It should be noted Selma has worked on seven film and television projects in 2026 alone, only a couple of which have been announced. She has launched a skin care line, a clothing line, and a line of eye-glass readers, each built around the idea of beauty and utility for people whose bodies do not always cooperate,” the rep continued. “She remains a visible and relentless advocate for disability rights, for the MS community, and this year for the Jewish community in the face of rising antisemitism, including from the stage of the ADL’s State of the Arts event at The Jewish Museum two weeks ago. Selma had never been arrested before Sunday night. There is much more to this story than has been reported, and we ask to consider the entirety of the facts before rushing to judgment, whether in the courtroom or in the court of public opinion.”
