Numerous rides at Siam Amazing Park have undergone safety inspections after some components were severely damaged by flooding in September, as the popular Bangkok attraction prepares to reopen on Nov 19.

A team of experts from the Engineering Institute of Thailand (EIT) inspected the 118-acre amusement and water park, commonly known as Suan Siam, in Khan Na Yao district on Friday.

The team was led by Chuchai Sujivorakul, a structural and concrete engineering specialist with the Institute of Scientific and Technological Research and Services at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.

The management of the park, founded by Chaiwat Luangamornlert in 1980, previously announced that the complex would close for six months due to extensive damage, which it said had affected nearly 100% of the park.

However, the restoration period has since been shortened, with management seeking ways to keep the 46-year-old amusement and water park in operation.

Mr Chuchai, 90, also floated the possibility of selling the business for about 10 billion baht to anyone interested in taking it over.

Last week, the park announced that it would reopen as early as Nov 19, coinciding with its 46th anniversary and the beginning of its 47th year of operation.

Initially, the park will reopen its water park and selected amusement rides.

The park is reportedly planning to offer special annual memberships for 1,000 baht, half the regular price, allowing unlimited visits throughout the year. However, the final prices and details of the offers are still being determined.
