Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto supports the policy of Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to increase the number of jogging tracks and parks across the capital to organize the city's green spaces.

"I fully support his plan to create jogging tracks, parks, and so forth," Prabowo said during the inauguration of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT line at Manggarai LRT Station in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Prabowo expressed this support after Pramono reported on several measures taken by the Jakarta Provincial Government to manage the urban environment, including cleaning up various water bodies.

Prabowo expressed support after Pramono reported on several measures taken by the Jakarta Provincial Government to manage the urban environment, including cleaning up various water ponds.

According to Prabowo, the policy on organizing open spaces and the environment in Jakarta aligns with the government's plan to promote the "Indonesia ASRI" movement, which envisions an environment that is safe, healthy, clean, and beautiful.

"In a week or two, I will hold a meeting with governors and district heads from across Indonesia, along with regional legislative councils (DPRD), to launch the 'Indonesia ASRI' movement," he said.

Prabowo stated that Jakarta could serve as a model for implementing the movement before it is rolled out to other regions across Indonesia.

He also encouraged the involvement of local governments and building owners in expanding urban greenery, including through the construction of vertical gardens on large buildings.

"Ideally, this should be an initiative by building owners; however, if they face difficulties, the local government will step in to help," Prabowo said.

In addition to greening efforts, Prabowo urged local governments to manage the environment by reducing waste and cleaning rivers using technology.

"We must transform all provincial and district capitals. Indonesia must transform; eliminate waste, clean rivers using technology, and so on," he said.

Prabowo said that the central government is ready to assist local government in carrying out the environmental transformation through the "Indonesia ASRI" movement.

Meanwhile, the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT line inaugurated by Prabowo spans 12.2 kilometers, represents an investment of Rp12.1 trillion, and is targeted to serve up to 80,000 passengers daily.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that Jakarta LRT passengers would be charged a fare of Rp8 per trip for the eight days following the inauguration.
