Deafheaven Surprise Release New EP At Work in the Fields of the Bomb

Translate

Deafheaven have returned with a new EP called At Work in the Fields of the Bomb. The three-tracker constitutes the California black metal crew’s first new music since last year’s Lonely People with Power. Get into it below.

The title and concept of the EP come from photographer Robert Del Tredici’s 1987 book of the same name, which documented the production of nuclear weapons. A press release explains that the band’s EP similarly “explores the unsettling contrast between the unimaginable consequences of the bomb and the mundane actions that make such destruction possible, focusing on the choices and systems that lead us toward irreversible moments.” Unlike Lonely People with Power, which featured Interpol’s Paul Banks and Boy Harsher’s Jae Matthews, At Work in the Fields of the Bomb doesn’t invite any guests.

Deafheaven will spend the rest of 2026 on tour with Mastodon.
