Rescue operation under way after woman falls down Blue Mountains cliff

A major rescue operation is under way to help a woman who fell 30 metres down a cliff face in the Blue Mountains.

Emergency services rushed to Leura in the Blue Mountains National Park at 11am on Saturday after a woman plunged down a slope in Leura.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was climbing the Ben Trovato Wall when she fell, a spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said. She is being treated at the scene for head, arm and shoulder injuries, but the spokesperson could not comment on her condition.

Several paramedics, as well as the NSW Ambulance Toll rescue helicopter, attended the scene.

A spokesperson for NSW Police said they were called to a walking track in Leura, following reports of a hiker falling from a cliff.

“She is believed to be in a serious but stable condition,” the spokesperson said. “An operation to rescue the woman is under way.”
