Fortnite update today (15 October): What changes in the patch notes?

Translate

Another week, and another Fortnite update releases today with patch v42.40!

We're in the midst of Fortnitemares, so you can expect plenty more spooks to be adding to the game today.

So, if you're curious what's changed in today's patch, here's everything you need to know about today's v42.40 Fortnite update.

The biggest change coming to Fortnite with patch v42.40 is a new round of Loot Hacks.

This week's Loot Hacks include Thorne's Vampiric Blade, Finger Guns, the Gatekeeper Shotgun, Hunting Rifle, Slap Splash and some new Sprite variants.

Out of all of these, Thorne's Vampiric Blade is the most important, as it relates to the Kado Thorne quests that are set to be added to the game soon – we're more interested in the Finger Guns, though.

The two new Sprites being added to the game are the Honey Sprite and Obsession Sprite.

The Honey Sprite is the last of the winning entries from Chapter 7 Season 3's community Sprite design contest and sends bees flying at anyone who damages you.

The Obsession Sprite is a crossover with the hit horror film from earlier this year, and its One Wish Willow power will reportedly help you collect other Sprites.

As well as these new additions, we've got a bunch of Vaulted items as well, with Midas' Masterpiece and Witch Broom both leaving, as well as the Super Shot, Big Boom, Action Hero and Healing Overdrive Match Overrides.

Last but not least, we've got one balance change, with the Sweeper Shotgun receiving a slightly faster fire rate.
