Phuket flood turns road into fishing spot as locals cast nets

PHUKET — 26 October 2026, Floodwaters brought an unexpected twist of humour to Phuket, where residents were filmed casting fishing nets along a flooded road in Kamala and even catching fish to take home.
Heavy rain throughout the night left several areas of the island inundated, with floodwaters and runoff affecting communities across the province. In Kamala subdistrict, Kathu district, water covered sections of the road, making travel difficult for smaller vehicles.
A Facebook user identified as “Greenwood sk” posted a video showing the scene on a road near Phuket FantaSea in Kamala.
The footage showed the poster and local residents wading through knee-deep floodwater, carrying fishing nets and casting them across the submerged road as though it were a temporary fishing pond.
The effort was not just for fun: the group reportedly managed to catch fish and take them home, drawing laughter and attention from those who witnessed the unusual scene.
While the impromptu fishing trip provided a light-hearted moment, flooding continued to disrupt daily life in several parts of Phuket.
