Otomate Brand Unveils Hakuōki Shinkai Kiwame, Other New Game Releases
During its "Otomate Party 2026" event on Sunday, Ideal Factory's Otomate brand unveiled Hakuōki Shinkai Kiwame. Otomate describes the release as a "compilation of the Hakuōki" otome game franchise for Nintendo Switch 2. Hakuōki Shinkai Kiwame is one of the titles commemorating Otomate's 20th anniversary in 2027.
Otomate also announced four other titles during the "Otomate Party 2026" event:
Velvet Candy Tint Kiss is a fantasy romance set in modern Japan, where the protagonist might captivate a male human with a kiss. Maika Mido is designing the art, Noriko Hiro is directing the game for Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite, and Jo Ninomae is the assistant director and scenario supervisor.
Otomate announced that the 2012 GENROH game is the 14th title included in its Otomate Graffiti collection, and will be available for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite in 2027.
Otomate announced Kimi wa Yuki ma ni Koinegau -Koi Musubi- (You Wish in the Snow -Love Connection-), a fan disk for its Kimi wa Yuki ma ni Koinegau (You Wish in the Snow) game, will launch for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite.
Shinsō no Dopperuto ~Kagachi Kaoru Kuro Sagiri no Shiigoto~ (The Doppelgänger of the Secluded Room ~The Slanderous Words of Kuro Sagiri with Radiant, Fragrant Blood~) is set in post-war Japan in 1947, when men and women with secrets gather in a Western-style mansion to compete for the affection of a young, single lady. Makoto Senzaki is the character designer, Hiroe Aoki is directing the game, and Jo Ninomae is the assistant director. The game will launch for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite.
The story of the Hakuōki game franchise and its anime adaptations centers around the historical Shinsengumi samurai group in Kyoto during the 19th century.
Hakuōki Ibun: Berezinskii no Majo (Hakuōki Strange Tale: The Witch of Berezinski), the latest spinoff game of the Hakuōki franchise, launched for Nintendo Switch on August 27. Otomate revealed the game in February 2024.
Otomate released Hakuōki Shinkai: Tenun no Shō, the previous entry in the Hakuōki Shinkai line of games, for Switch in 2022. Aksys Games and Idea Factory International have released several of the games in the franchise in English. Eastasiasoft most recently released Hakuōki SSL ~sweet school life~, the high school spinoff of the franchise, in English on February 12.
The franchise inspired the Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom television anime in 2010, followed by Hakuōki: Record of the Jade Blood in the same year, 2012's Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom - Dawn of the Shinsengumi, and 2016's Hakuōki: Otogisōshi. The franchise also spawned several films and original video anime releases, as well as stage musicals and live-action adaptations.
