Blue Lights star reveals why season 4 will be "the best one yet" as release date confirmed

The premiere date for season 4 of Northern Irish police procedural drama show Blue Lights has been confirmed — and one of the cast members has teased that it's going to be the "best one yet".

The newest batch of episodes will kick off on Tuesday, 29 September on BBC iPlayer and will drop one episode a week as previous seasons have done.

The new come after Nathan Braniff, who plays Constable Tommy Foster, told Radio Times that the upcoming new episodes will be worth the wait.

"Definitely it's gonna be the best one yet. It's much more the same of the things that everybody loves about Blue Lights," he said. "And my character Tommy, for example, he's working out his relationship, and it's all a bit chaotic."

Over the course of the show, Tommy had been in a relationship with co-worker Aisling Byrne, but the events of season 3 had put a huge strain on their partnership.

Neil Keery, who plays Sergeant Lawrence McCloskey, teased there's "quite a lot of action this year", while Braniff added: "That’s right. There was lots of big stunts, like pyrotechnics and flipping craziness."

Another thing we know about season 4 is that Game of Thrones star Richard Dormer will be back, even though his character Gerry Cliff died in season 1.

The official season 4 premiere date announcement post teases that Dormer will return "in an episode that answers important questions from the past".

Meanwhile, fan-favourite Blue Lights star Martin McCann has been confirmed for a lead role as a "meticulous detective" in upcoming ITV mystery drama titled She Lies in Wait.

Blue Lights seasons 1 to 3 are available to stream on BBC iPlayer now, while season 4 begins on 29 September.
