Taiwanese man hides Thai girlfriend's body in office freezer: police

Taiwanese police have arrested a 43-year-old man accused of strangling his Thai girlfriend and hiding her body in a suitcase inside his workplace freezer.

The body of the victim was discovered on Sept. 19 at a technology company in Taichung City.

The suspect, surnamed Wu, worked in administration and logistics at the facility and led investigators to the freezer following his arrest, Focus Taiwan reported.

According to the Taipei City Police Department, Arthan arrived in Taiwan on Sept. 2 for a planned 14-day trip and checked into a hotel in Taipei's Ximending area.

Her family and friends in Taiwan reported her missing to police after losing contact with her.

Investigators reviewing surveillance footage observed Wu carrying a large suitcase into the victim's hotel on the evening of Sept. 12.

He was later seen leaving the premises with the suitcase at around 1 a.m. the following morning.

During questioning, Wu told police that he and the woman had been in a romantic relationship for about a year after meeting in Thailand.

He confessed to strangling her during a dispute, telling investigators he lost control because he could not accept her decision to end their relationship, according to Bangkok Post.

Wu admitted to placing her body in the suitcase and transporting it to his Taichung office, where it remained hidden in a freezer for nearly a week until it was discovered.

Following his confession, police referred Wu to the Taichung District Prosecutors Office on suspicion of murder.
