Benachi Announces Burial Date for Late Father
Kenyan gospel singer Benachi has announced the burial date for his late father, days after sharing news of his death.
The musician, whose real name is Benson Ongachi, revealed that his father will be laid to rest on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
In an update shared with his followers, Benachi thanked everyone who had stood by him and his family following the loss, particularly those who offered prayers and support during the difficult period.
“Thanks to everyone who came first, the prayers… The burial is this Saturday 10th,” Benachi said.
Benachi mourns his father
The announcement comes shortly after Benachi revealed his father’s death on September 28.
At the time, the singer described his father as his beloved dad and said he was struggling to find the words to express his grief.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I share the passing of my beloved DAD,” he wrote.
Benachi said he was grateful to God for the time he spent with his father, the memories they created and the life he lived.
“It’s difficult to find the words right now. I’m grateful to God for the time we had, the memories we shared, and the life he lived,” he added.
He concluded the emotional tribute by bidding farewell to his father and expressing hope that they would meet again.
“Rest peacefully, Dad. You will forever remain in our hearts. Until we meet again,” Benachi wrote.
The singer did not disclose the cause of his father’s death.
Benachi’s gospel music career
Benachi has established himself in Kenya’s gospel music scene, with his career including collaborations with several prominent artistes.
He is best known for “Mwanake,” his collaboration with the late gospel singer Peter Kaberere. The two worked together before Kaberere’s death in 2014, with the song contributing to Benachi’s rise in the gospel industry.
He has since released songs including “Nitembelee,” “Nifinyange,” “Tulia,” “Kidonda” and “Sio Mwisho.”
