The Weekender

With the couple’s children, Archie, seven, and Lillibet, four, reportedly already enrolled in a UK school and the Duke of Sussex busy with projects such as his charity work and the Invictus Games, there have been multiple reports that Meghan may use her time here to return to acting.

She rose to fame in the legal drama series Suits as Rachel Zane from 2011 to 2018. While Meghan has since returned to our screens in the form of her Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, she has not pursued her acting career since she and Harry married in 2018.

There have been several reports of talks taking place for her to star in the new series of Guy Ritchie series the Gentleman.

But it has been reported that the Duchess may be keen to take on a role on a West End stage when she arrives back on British soil.

The Daily Mail has quoted a source as saying that Meghan has “desperately wanted to be in a West End” production over the years and “will certainly be speaking to people about a role”.

There has been no confirmation of this by sources close to the Sussexes, and it it is not known how feasible it could be if the couple plan to live outside London.

However PR expert Mark Borkowski told HELLO! that if Meghan did indeed want a theatre role, there would be interest from the West End.

“I know at least three or four West End theatre producers who would have her in a production tomorrow.,” he told the magazine.

“If Amanda Knox could be the biggest talking point of [the Edinburgh Festival Fringe], why wouldn't Meghan? Whether she wants to do that, I don't know, but a very sharp producer would definitely see a vehicle for her.”

It appears that those in the world of theatre are excited about the possibility, with Westendtheatre.com publishing a blog article on Friday 21 August that featured its own “dream-casting” for Meghan “in a stellar stage debut”.

The site is “manifesting” roles for Meghan in the musical adaptation of 13 Going On 30, which has yet to debut in the West End; The Devil Wears Prada, which currently stars Vanessa Williams; Agatha Christie’s Witness for The Prosecution; and 2:22 A Ghost Story, which counts Lily Allen, James Buckley, Laura Whitmore, Sophia Bush, Stephanie Beatriz, Nathaniel Curtis, and more famous names among its stars.

But Meghan will also be back on TV screens sooner than fans think, as she took on a cameo role in a forthcoming production for Amazon MGM Studios.

She will appear alongside Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Henry Golding and Jack Quaid in the production Close Personal Friends, but no release date has been announced.

News.com.au reporter Bronte Coy also reported that Meghan was offered a “top secret” role in an upcoming UK production that has not been named yet.

She told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that Meghan is “very excited” about the project, which has played a “significant” role in the family’s return, according to her entertainment sources.

“This is such a key part of the puzzle. I think when we all heard that news that Harry and Meghan were moving here, and within a matter of days, and the kids were enrolled in school, everyone was asking, what is Meghan going to be doing?” she said, adding that further details will be released “relatively soon”.

The Duke and Duchess are set to make their move back to the UK by the end of August, with their children set to start school in September.
