Four people were rescued after being swept away by strong waves in San Fernando, La Union, the Coast Guard Station La Union said on Saturday.

“The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), through the Coast Guard Station La Union Baywatch Team and with the assistance of four local fishermen, successfully rescued four individuals who were swept away by a strong sea current while swimming off the waters of Barangay San Francisco, City of San Fernando, La Union, on October 30, 2026,” the Coast Guard station said in a Facebook post.

The Coast Guard reminded the public to exercise caution when swimming, particularly in areas with strong currents, rocky shorelines, and deep waters.

"Always observe safety advisories and follow the instructions of authorized personnel," the PCG said. —VBL, GMA News
