James Bond Will Officially Return March 2027 Following Delay

It's been five years since Daniel Craig said goodbye to one of the silver screen's most iconic characters. The wait for Bond to return has been long and shrouded in mystery. According to media sources and indeed Gary Oldman, the latest James Bond has been cast, just not announced yet. Fans have theorized about whom the next Bond will be, with names like Jack Lowden, Henry Cavill and Callum Turner being thrown around regularly. But, for us gamers... we've already gotten a new Bond and there's more to come in March 2027.

007 First Light released back in May 2026 across multiple platforms. The game has since been lauded as a thoroughly entertaining action game that brings a younger Bond to life better than any game before it has done. It is widely praised as the best Bond game ever. Patrick Gibson's performance as the suave spy was incredibly believable, and he brought real heart and emotional subtlety to the character. IO Interactive really knocked it out of the park, but their recent announcement on X might bring a few tears to fans' eyes.

With 007 First Light seeing great success on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, one platform has sadly been left waiting a long time to test drive Bond's Aston Martin. Nintendo Switch 2 players have yet to get to grips with 2026's best action adventure game to date. Originally, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game was meant to launch in May alongside the PS5, PC and Xbox versions. They delayed and said they were adding polish and planned to release 007 First Light on the Switch 2 during the Summer.

Sadly, the latest delay has now seen the release date of 007 First Light on the Nintendo Switch 2 pushed until March 2027. This is disappointing news for Nintendo players who have been patiently waiting to roleplay as Bond. There is a mixed reaction in the comments section to the news, but most fans are taking the delay graciously. One commentor said the following:

Be worth the wait 🥰 would rather the game be running fine then a rushed release ☺️

And another:

take your time, but please consider switching to a normal 64 GB game card. if it fits on the card, great, if not let us download the rest

While others were a little more pessimistic:

This is ridiculous. A preordered game behind 12 months of delays. Starting to lose faith...

Its mind-boggling that you fumbled a 007 Game on a Nintendo console, a platform were 007 has sold the best. The EASIEST slam dunk any 3rd party dev could ask for

Whether the delay means fans are getting the best version of 007 First Light on Nintendo Switch 2 or that they're struggling to get the game to run well on the hardware remains to be seen. For me, the last James Bond game I played on a Nintendo was Goldeneye, and it was quite a few years ago. I have no problem waiting a few more months to revisit 007 First Light on the Nintendo Switch 2. Hopefully it releases in March 2027 with some new DLC or some free goodies for Nintendo fans to enjoy.
