Anwar says he has not received Loke’s resignation letter

SHAH ALAM, Sept 26 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has yet to receive Transport Minister Anthony Loke’s resignation letter.

“Wait for the resignation letter,” he said briefly when asked about Loke’s intention to resign from the Cabinet.

He spoke to reporters after attending the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Alumni Gathering with the Prime Minister at the university’s Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor here today.

Loke offered to resign following a DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting on September 19 in response to the conditional pardon granted to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The Seremban MP said he would submit his resignation letter upon returning to Malaysia from China.

On the Registrar of Societies (RoS) order suspending all Perikatan Nasional (PN) activities in connection with the upcoming Melaka state election, Anwar said the matter should be referred to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

RoS issued the suspension order, effective September 23, covering all PN activities.

According to RoS, the action was taken under Subsection 13(2A) of the Societies Act 1966 following a notice issued to PN on September 22. — Bernama
