Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has reportedly emerged as a potential candidate to return to Golden Arrows.

The 57-year-old has been part of the Buccaneers‘ technical team for the past five years after leaving Abafana Bes’thende.

On Tuesday, SoccerBeat reported that Golden Arrows could consider Ncikazi as a replacement for current coach Pitso Dladla, whose position is reportedly under review following a difficult run of results.

“SoccerBeat understands that Pitso Dladla’s position at Golden Arrows is under review after just one win in eight games in the league. Mandla Ncikazi is understood to be at the top of a shortlist of potential replacement,” the publication wrote on X.

Ncikazi has been absent from most of Orlando Pirates’ matches this season due to a knee injury. He underwent surgery during pre-season and has only returned to action in recent weeks.

The procedure forced him to spend time away from the team as he continued his rehabilitation. During his recovery, the experienced coach was seen using crutches.

Ncikazi missed Orlando Pirates matches due to injury

Pirates granted Ncikazi time away from his duties, allowing him to return to his home province of KwaZulu-Natal to continue his recovery.

With Golden Arrows reportedly considering a dugout change, a return to the club could be an option for Ncikazi. However, no official confirmation of an approach or potential move has been made.

Ncikazi enjoyed success during his five-year spell at Orlando Pirates, winning eight trophies with the Soweto giants. A possible return to Arrows would see him revisit a club where he previously made his mark as a coach.
