2027: Ekiti ex-PDP scribe rallies support for Tinubu’s re-election

A former Ekiti State secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Funmilayo Ogun, has canvassed support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Ogun, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress, said her move was to boost the President’s support base ahead of the poll.

Ogun, a former commissioner for works in Ekiti State, said in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Saturday that the APC was the best vehicle to advance her political career.

“I have gone round and seen that the APC remains the best vehicle I can use to advance my political career and to also bring dividends to the people.

“I am really committed to joining the party to rally support for President Bola Tinubu to win the 2027 reelection and to also help Governor Oyebanji achieve his agenda for the state.

“I have wholeheartedly joined the APC with my teeming supporters across this state. We will begin aggressive campaigns across all the wards in Ido/Osi Local Government with full cooperation with other party leaders. We are not going to disappoint you, because we are not here as rivals, but to contribute our own quota,” she assured.

She said her over 16 years of experience in the private sector and her appointment as commissioner for works under the administration of former Governor Ayodele Fayose gave her the intellectual and political background to contribute to the APC.

Ogun thanked former governors Niyi Adebayo, Segun Oni and Fayose for their leadership, particularly their support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji in his bid to make Ekiti great, saying that “history will continue to be kind to them”.

The APC chairman in the Ido/Osi Local Government Area, Adewumi Aina, described her as a “big fish” who would add value and advance the cause of the party in the local government while receiving her and her supporters on behalf of the party’s State Working Committee.

Aina said, “My people, now that you have received Mrs Ogun and her supporters into APC, cooperate with them. Don’t discriminate against them. Let me assure you, you have equal rights and privileges like the old members. You have nothing to fear.”
