Gaeshwin, 4, names 44 engine parts in 60 seconds

A 4-YEAR-OLD boy has earned national and international record recognitions for his ability to identify and name 44 vehicle engine components in just 60 seconds.

Gaeshwin Nair received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records, as well as the International Book of Records and the Worldwide Book of Records, for the most automobile engine components identified in one minute for a preschooler.

"The achievement not only highlights Gaeshwin's remarkable memory, but also shows how an interest nurtured from an early age can develop into a talent," said Gaeshwin's father Thynalan Mohan Das at their home in Seremban 2 yesterday.

"I often brought him to my car workshop, especially on Saturdays, where I showed him the components and taught him their names. We did not expect him to remember them so well."

Thynalan said Gaeshwin, who is now attending a kindergarten, could already name all the planets in the Solar System when he was only 18 months old.

"His interest slowly shifted to automobiles after I introduced educational flashcards featuring more than 100 car brands and their countries of origin.

"He memorised all the brands within two months. His interest then grew to include more complex engine components," he said.

Gaeshwin's mother, Gayathri Nair, said she had also provided learning materials to help him explore automotive topics in greater depth.
