AAP donations fall 68%, BJD reports zero contributions

AAP’s donation inflow falls below one-third to Rs 12.1 crore in 2025-26

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party's receipts from contributions in 2025-26 fell to Rs 12.1 crore, which is less than one-third of its Rs 38.1 crore inflow through this route in 2024-25. Of this, Rs 10 crore, or 83% of its total donations, came from Prudent Electoral Trust and Trident Group founded by Rajya Sabha MP Rajendra Gupta, who switched loyalties from AAP to BJP earlier this year.AAP is the only party that declares all donation receipts and not just those above Rs 20,000 as required by the law. According to its latest contribution report filed with Election Commission (EC), both Prudent and Trident contributed Rs 5 crore each to AAP; in 2024-25, Prudent had donated Rs 16.4 crore to the party.

Among regional parties, TDP, which is in office in Andhra Pradesh since 2024, declared its donation receipts at Rs 58.3 crore, though this is less than the Rs 83 crore contributions it had reported the previous year.

Prudent contributed over 77% of TDP's total receipts through six donations in 2025-26. In 2024-25 too, Prudent was TDP's biggest donor, having contributed Rs 40 crore in all.YSR Congress Party, the main opposition party in Andhra Pradesh, received a total of Rs 24.3 crore in donations in 2025-26, though this figure is way less than its Rs 140 crore inflow in 2024-25.BRS, which was voted out of office by Congress in Telangana in 2023, declared its total contributions in 2025-26 at Rs 16.4 crore, up from Rs 15.1 crore in 2024-25. The 2025-26 contribution report for Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which was defeated in Odisha in 2024, records nil donations, as against Rs 60 crore declared in 2024-25.Part of AAP's donations in the last fiscal came from its MLAs, including former Delhi CMs Arvind Kejriwal (Rs 30,000) and Atishi Marlena (Rs 42,000).
