Pakistan's 'Next Waqar Younis' Slams 9 Sixes vs England In 3rd Test, Equals New Zealand Great's 18-Year-Old World Record

Debutant pacer Razaullah left everyone stunned with his all-round heroics for Pakistan in the third and final Test against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Coming in to bat at No. 9 during Pakistan's second innings on Day 3, Razaullah smashed 81 off just 63 balls, helping his side extend its lead to 129 runs. His counterattacking knock played a crucial role in taking Pakistan's total to 449 and ensuring the match stretched into the fourth day, giving the visitors another opportunity to avoid a series whitewash.

En route to his 81-run innings, the 21-year-old debutant hammered nine sixes and equalled a major world record. Razaullah has become only the second batter in Test history to hit nine sixes on debut. The record was previously held solely by former New Zealand pacer Tim Southee, who struck nine maximums against England on his Test debut in 2008.

"I just had to bat, you were the ones who had to enjoy it. [On his batting approach] I was selecting my shots. My plan was to take it longer and deeper. They bowled in my slot, so I was looking to capitalize. I broke both my bats. I have six bats in my bag. [On his journey and the records he has created for Pakistan] I can never thank the Almighty enough. There is no achievement of mine in this. This is just the start of the journey," said Razaullah at the end of day's play.

Apart from Razaullah, his fellow paceman Mohammad Abbas also joined the party as the pair took the score from 318-8 to 439-9, with England seemingly powerless to stop the carnage late on the third day.

It means the teams will have to come back on Saturday, with the home home side needing to score 130 to wrap up a 3-0 win after dominating the series.

Earlier, Shan Masood scored 95 and captain Babar Azam made 76 as much-changed Pakistan passed 200 for the first time in the series at the sixth attempt.
