Roma lose Pellegrini for at least 6-8 weeks with serious injury

Lorenzo Pellegrini is expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks after tests showed the Roma captain suffered a high grade lesion in the right thigh.
The midfielder had pulled up during Tuesday’s Champions League victory over Slovan Bratislava, with goals from Mario Hermoso, Nahuel Molina, Niccolò Pisilli and Donyell Malen.
It was hoped that he had stopped in time before doing any significant damage, but today’s test results were far worse than predicted.
Pellegrini out for two months

Sky Sport Italia report Pellegrini has sustained a high grade lesion at the site of the distal musculotendinous junction of the semitendinosus muscle in the right thigh.
This kind of injury will require at least six to eight weeks on the sidelines, so Roma cannot expect the veteran back until after the next break for international duty in November.

It is a further blow to Gian Piero Gasperini, who is already dealing with injuries for Paulo Dybala, Manu Koné and Mile Svilar.
At least Bryan Cristante made his return to the squad after more than a month out.
