Melaka DAP sets out to hold 4, win 3 at state polls

Translate

DAP aims to defend the four seats it held in the Melaka state assembly and win three more seats it has been allocated by Pakatan Harapan, said its national election director Wong Kah Woh.

He said DAP would field its election machinery in phases to assist the party’s seven candidates, with the campaign coordinated by Melaka DAP chairman Khoo Poay Tiong.

DAP won Kesidang, Kota Laksamana, Bandar Hilir and Ayer Keroh in the 2021 state election. It will also contest the Gadek, Duyong and Pengkalan Batu seats.

Wong said DAP would keep its campaign positive, focusing on candidates’ performance and service records rather than playing up racial and religious issues. “We will also highlight PH’s record at both state and federal levels as one of the foundations for earning voters’ trust,” he said.

He noted that voters in Melaka were increasingly mature in their ability to assess candidates who could represent them and champion their constituencies’ interests.

Nominations for the Melaka state election will be held tomorrow, with polling scheduled for Nov 14 and early voting on Nov 10.
