Through its partnership with Billboard Latin Music Week, AARP celebrated the pioneers who helped shape Latin music alongside the emerging voices carrying those traditions into the future.

One of the highlights of AARP’s programming was “Salsa Revival: Bridging Generations presented by AARP,” a panel featuring legendary salsa artist Tito Nieves and contemporary salsa star Luis Figueroa.

The conversation brought together two artists whose careers represent different eras of salsa, united by a shared commitment to keeping the genre alive and moving forward.

AARP also presented Tito Nieves with the Latin Music Legacy Award at Billboard Latin Power Players, recognizing his lasting impact on the genre and his contributions to Latin music.

“It’s a fantastic year for music, more than ever,” Billboard’s co-chief content officer Leila Cobo said during the ceremony. Citing Luminate data, she noted that one in every 10 streams is now in Spanish… double the share recorded six years ago. “We are so proud to honor [the Latin Power Players] tonight.”

AARP’s presence at Billboard Latin Music Week 2026 reflected a vision of aging centered on possibility, participation and continued growth. As a nonprofit dedicated to empowering people to choose how they live as they age, AARP highlighted the importance of lifelong creativity, cultural engagement and connections between generations.

Latin music brought that message to life.

From honoring industry pioneers with the Latin Music Legacy Award to bringing Tito Nieves and Luis Figueroa together to discuss the evolution of salsa, AARP was part of the conversations where culture, community and generations connect.
