Coronation Street's Christina faces a huge decision over long-lost granddaughter

Coronation Street's Christina Boyd has had to make a tough choice concerning her long-lost granddaughter Lucy Parkinson in emotional scenes.

Yesterday's episode saw Christina confide in partner George Shuttleworth about having given up her daughter for adoption. She later discovered that her biological daughter was Rachel Parkinson, who was tragically murdered by her husband.

In tonight's scenes, George insisted he and Christina had "a good chat", with her revealing she was only 18 when she got pregnant.

"I fell for the charms of my boss," she revealed, adding that the "glamorous" feel of the affair stopped when she realised she was pregnant. Her boss promised he'd leave his wife for her, but didn't and Christina ended up a single mum.

"I brought Rachel home for three months," Christina told George. "But we never sort of bonded, you know?"

"I didn't feel those motherly feelings. I kept waiting, but they just didn't come," she added, as George told her she could've had postnatal depression.

She explained she was considering adoption when a chat with her boss and ex-lover led to her agreeing to give the baby to him and his wife.

"One week later was the last that I ever saw of her," Christina said, bursting into tears as George hugged her.

"And now she's dead," she added in despair.

Christina reflected on whether she should tell Lucy that she's her biological grandmother, with George helping her consider all the options.

"I don't think you'd rush into anything," George offered, saying that Lucy just lost her mother and with her dad in prison, she didn't need any more shocks.

Meanwhile, Lucy had a breakthrough with Shanice. In a sweet moment, Shanice spotted Lucy writing down her feelings in her grief journal.

"I hope you feel happy soon," Shanice told Lucy and hugged her.

Later on, Lucy tested Shanice's trust when she swiped some vodka from Tim and Sally's cabinet. When Shanice pointed out that she wasn't allowed to drink that, Lucy lied that she had their permission.
