Cops locate driver after 6-vehicle crash that killed girl

Translate

Police have located the driver of a BYD Seal who caused a six-vehicle crash that killed a five-year-old girl and injured two others at Jalan Kuching in Kuala Lumpur two days ago.

Kuala Lumpur traffic police chief Zamzuri Isa said the BYD rammed into the back of a motorcycle and a Perodua Bezza in slow-moving traffic at 3.44pm.

This caused the Bezza to crash into three other vehicles while the BYD fled the scene, he said.

“A five-year-old girl, the daughter of the Bezza’s driver, was in the rear passenger seat when the crash occurred. She suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The Bezza driver, 30, suffered wounds on his right hand while the motorcyclist, 33, suffered head injuries. Both are being treated at Hospital Kuala Lumpur,” Zamzuri said in a statement.

The drivers of the other vehicles were not injured.

Zamzuri said the 24-year-old BYD driver was located at a private hospital in Damansara, undergoing treatment.

“He is still being monitored by investigating officers and further investigations are ongoing,” he said, adding that the case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless driving.
