“Do Not Abandon Your Children”: Geoffrey Mosiria Issues Emotional Appeal To Parents In Informal Settlements

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Customer Engagement and Citizen Service Geoffrey Mosiria has issued an emotional appeal to parents against abandoning their children in informal settlements, urging them to prioritize their kids’ safety, protection, and emotional well-being.

Speaking on Friday, October 9, 2026, Mosiria warned that children left without parental supervision in high-density informal settlements face heightened risks of exploitation and abuse. He reminded parents that silence from a child does not necessarily equal safety.

“To all parents, please do not abandon your children, especially in informal settlements, where vulnerable children may face additional risks,” Mosiria urged. “Your presence, guidance, and protection matter more than you may ever realise. A child may not always know how to ask for help, but that does not mean they are not suffering.”

Vowing to use his platform to advocate for neglected and vulnerable minors across the capital, the county official warned that anyone who takes advantage of abandoned or defenseless children will face the full force of the law.

“I will continue standing up for children who have nobody to speak for them,” Mosiria stated. “Their pain must never be ignored, and those who prey on their innocence must be held accountable through the law.”

Mosiria concluded his message with a call to action for local communities, urging residents not to look the other way when a child is at risk and emphasizing that safeguarding vulnerable youth is a collective responsibility.
