Marking the first entries in Pokémon's 10th generation, Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are set to launch some time in 2027. However, with Nintendo keeping that release date close to its chest, a recent leak suggests that we could be waiting quite a long time before we head to a brand-new tropical archipelago region.

Announced back in February 2026, Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves will head to the Nintendo Switch 2 in the new year, and whilst we have not yet received an official release date, we do know some of what to expect from a brand-new Pokémon generation.

Inspired by Southeast Asia, the new map will depict a tropical archipelago region, full to the brim with accessible underwater areas, so it is no doubt that there will be plenty of aquatic Pokémon to add to your team. Additionally, we also know the Starter 'mons who will be joining us on our adventure: the Grass-type Browt, the Fire-type Pombon, and the Water-type Gecqua. However, if one leak is to be believed, a suspected 300 brand-new Pokémon are expected to be added to the Pokédex. Hopefully, we will get to see some evolutions in there too.

Despite neither Game Freak, Nintendo, nor the Pokémon Company announcing a potential release date, or even window, for the launch of Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, a recent leak suggests that we will not receive any official news until the next Pokémon Day event taking place in 2027. It is this day that may finally see us get our first glimpse at the box art legendary Pokemon, as well as that all important launch date.

For now, however, it is back to taking information with a grain of salt, as leakers think they know when Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves will be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2.

According to three well-known Pokémon leakers, Ball Guy, Cento Leaks, and Kurwa, Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves will launch in November 2027. Although the three do not explain where they came by this information, it does make some sense. In previous years, all mainline Pokémon entries have been released in November. Not only that, but it gives the developers ample time to make sure this is the best generation yet, especially as more recent mainline entries have left a lot to be desired when it comes to ambition.

A late 2027 launch only makes sense based on the lack of news we received during the recent Pokémon Worlds event. With no mention of Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, it proved even more that the game is still in an unplayable state and, therefore, waiting another year does not seem too farfetched.

For now, at the time of writing, Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are still on track for a 2027 release date, but as us gamers know, this is subject to change over the next few months. As such, it is worth taking this leak with a pinch of salt until otherwise confirmed by Nintendo, Game Freak, or The Pokémon Company.
