India In Action At Athletics LIVE Updates, Asian Games 2026: India have the opportunity to win as many as 15 medals in athletics on Day 9 of Asian Games 2026 on Monday. The women's discus throw final, the first medal event, is underway, where Seema Kaliramna and Sanya Yadav are representing India. A whole host of track medal events are coming up. Vithya Ramraj and Anu Raghavan will take part in the women's 400m hurdles final, Santhosh Kumar Tamilarasan will be in the men's 400m hurdles final, Avinash Sable in the men's 3000m steeplechase final, Yoonus Shah and Gulveer Singh in the men's 1500m final, and Seema and Parul Chaudhary in the women's 5000m final. In field events, Murali Sreeshankar will be in focus in the men's long jump final, while India also have two representatives in men's javelin throw. India have won 13 athletics medals so far at Aichi-Nagoya 2026, but the hunt for a first athletics gold still continues.

Seema Kaliramna with an excellent 59.81m throw on her final attempt, but that won't be good enough to secure her a medal in the women's discus throw final. Twice she has breached her previous personal best today, so it's a really, really respectable effort from her. Even more so given the slippery conditions.

India finish second in the heat and qualify for the mixed 4x100m relay final, but there's a bigger concern! Animesh Kujur, who ran a superb third leg, slipped while passing the baton, and was seen limping after the race. Let's hope he's okay for the final.
