Megan Schutt Becomes Third Australian To Complete 150 ODI Wickets

Australia fast bowler Megan Schutt achieved a significant milestone by completing 150 wickets in ODI cricket during the first ODI against Bangladesh women at Allan Border Field on Friday. Schutt became just the third Australian to reach the milestone, joining legendary all-rounder Ellyse Perry (166 wickets) and former tearaway pacer Cathryn Fitzpatrick (180) on the list. Coming into the first ODI of the three-match series against Bangladesh, the 33-year-old Australian needed two wickets to reach the mark. She got there when she dismissed Sharmin Sultana in the third over after removing Fargana Hoque with the first ball of the series.
Schutt produced a jaffa on the opening delivery as she dismissed Hoque after Australia opted to bowl first. She got the Bangladeshi opener with a ball that jagged in from a back-of-a-length, took the edge, and carried comfortably to Phoebe Litchfield at first slip.
Schutt achieved the milestone in the third over when she pitched one up to Sharmin. The ball swung in, beat the batter's flick and thudded into the pads, prompting the umpire to raise the finger.
Schutt is the 12th player overall to reach 150 wickets in the format. The list is led by India legend and former pacer Jhulan Goswami, who claimed 255 wickets in ODIs. Among Australians, Fitzpatrick tops the list with 180 wickets, followed by Perry with 166.
Coming to the match, Annabel Sutherland took four wickets, while Ashleigh Gardner, vice-captain Tahlia McGrath and Georgia Wareham claimed one wicket each as Bangladesh were bowled out for 166.
For the visitors, Ritu Moni top-scored from No. 7 with 45, the only score of 30-plus by a Bangladeshi batter.
