Emmerdale reveals Sarah's second thoughts over Charity - but is it too late?

Sarah Sugden appears to be getting cold feet over her police statement as Charity Dingle's prison ordeal takes a harrowing turn in tonight's episode of Emmerdale (14 September). Charity was arrested and charged over the murder of Dr Caitlin Todd, though it was actually her granddaughter Sarah who fatally pushed Dr Todd to her death.

Charity and Sarah came up with a story together, saying that Charity pushed Dr Todd in self-defence to protect Sarah from ending up behind bars. However, Sarah was left reeling after finally uncovering the shocking truth about baby Leyla.

The child Charity had given birth to as a surrogate for Sarah and Jacob was actually Charity's biological daughter with Ross, leaving Sarah absolutely devastated.

After a fiery confrontation, Sarah withdrew her witness statement and told everyone, including the police, that Charity had forced her to make it, leading to her arrest.

Tonight's episode began with a full lockdown and cell searches, with Charity looking visibly rattled when she was told by her cellmate to "not say a word" about the white powder that was eventually found by officers.

Her loved ones at home were left concerned over Charity's wellbeing while behind bars, including Mackenzie Boyd. He continued to try to prove Charity's innocence and became increasingly furious over Sarah's "spiteful" involvement.

Mackenzie, Chas Dingle and Moira Dingle sat Sarah and Cain Dingle down to speak to her about what she has done to Charity, explaining that they know Sarah is upset, but Charity could go to prison for years.

When Sarah didn't budge, Mackenzie threatened to reveal the truth about baby Leyla to Jacob, as well as the fact that Sarah is a murderer, giving her until tomorrow to save Charity.

During the lockdown, Charity was forced into a humiliating full-body search that caused a PTSD-induced panic attack and subsequently saw Charity placed in segregation for her outburst.

After the family meeting, Cain supported Sarah, saying that Charity will go "ballistic" if Mackenzie goes through with his threats, even after everything.

Cain urged her to tell Jacob the truth, saying she was in a situation she "can't win either way," and that it is better he hears the truth from her.

Eventually, Sarah broke down and confessed everything about the murder and Leyla's parentage to a furious Jacob, who ordered her to leave him and Leyla.

Sarah appeared to have doubts over her police statement, especially when she was told Charity was forced to undergo a full-body search. And with this development with Jacob, will she give in to Mackenzie's threats?
