Jobless claims drop again in past week as continuing claims rise

U.S. initial jobless claims for the week ended Oct. 2: -2K to 197K vs. 200K consensus and 199K prior (revised from 197K), according to data released by the U.S. Department of Labor on Thursday.
Continuing claims for the week ended Sept. 26: 1.716M vs. 1.710M consensus and 1.699M prior (revised from 1.701M).
