Pauly Shore Bringing Newest Special ‘Road Comic: Live From Portland’ To PlayStation 5 In November

Translate

EXCLUSIVE: Comedian Pauly Shore is set to release a new half-hour stand-up special, Road Comic: Live from Portland, via PlayStation 5 on November 1.

Shore’s special is one of the first ever made available for free on-demand viewing via Live TV streaming on the gaming console, joining recent specials from the likes of Jeremiah Watkins, Jack Jr. and Paul Virzi. Live TV marks a departure from earlier viewing options: Previously, the options for PlayStation users were either to purchase specials through the PlayStation Store — something Sony discontinued for all film/TV in 2021 — or stream through third-party apps such as YouTube.

In his new special, Shore gets personal — messing with the audience, looking back on being raised by comedians at the legendary Comedy Store, reminiscing about his former co-stars, opening up about health scares and getting into his beef with Will Ferrell at Equinox. Check out a trailer above.

Shore taped the special at the Portland Helium Comedy Club in Portland, OR and will release it on his YouTube page on November 17. He lists Ronald McDonald and Burger King as the producers of his special, with Taco Bell as its executive producer; probably take those credits with a grain of salt. He directed the half-hour himself, with Comedy Compound Productions and Robot Pirate Media as the production companies involved.

Born into comedy — the son of comedian Sammy Shore and longtime Comedy Store owner Mitzi Shore — Pauly has now been performing stand-up for nearly four decades. He broke out via his MTV show Totally Pauly, which ran for six years, before going on to roles in iconic ’90s comedies like Bio Dome and Encino Man, and starring in and producing his own projects, like Pauly Shore Is Dead. Over the years, he’s released myriad specials and albums, and he continues to expand his creative work through both stand-up comedy and independent film projects. Most recently, he teamed with Nick Swardson and Doug Jones on Remain Calm, a horror-comedy short from writer-director Jake Lewis that is approaching 10M views on YouTube.
