Anjelica Huston Delivers Voiceover for Audiobook Launch of Amy Ephron’s ‘Unseasonably Cold’

Anjelica Huston is helping heat up the audiobook for Amy Ephron’s Unseasonably Cold. The veteran Hollywood actress appears as a special guest star in the recording by providing a voiceover for the mystery novel’s character Thessaly Edwards.

Published by Mike Sager’s the Sager Group on April 1 (with wide rollout in May), Unseasonably Cold is set in New York society in 1939. It opens a year after the disappearance of Jane Henry, a columnist and publishing heiress. Her best friend, Liza Simon, is haunted by something Jane told her prior to vanishing — that Jane’s husband had turned “unseasonably cold.” But new suspects emerge as Liza’s brother, Timothy, is implicated by new evidence as the search continues to find out what happened to Jane.

The mystery novel got new life with the Oct. 4 publication of a paperback and audiobook, the latter of which was directed by Ephron and narrated by actress Kerry O’Malley (A Man on the Inside, David Fincher’s The Killer). Betty Bennett and two-time Grammy-winning producer and mixer Bob Clearmountain oversaw the audiobook as executive producers. It was recorded at Clearmountain’s Berkeley Street Studios in Santa Monica, Calif.

“Kerry is fantastic,” Ephron said in a statement praising O’Malley’s voiceover work. She then turned her attention to Huston, someone she thought she might collaborate with in other forms. “In my fantasy, I once imagined Anjelica might direct me; I never thought I would have the honor of directing her. It was a complete pleasure and will always be a treasured memory to record at Betty Bennett and Bob Clearmountain’s Berkeley Street Studios and to record with Brandon Duncan. The fact that they believe in me and like my work means the world to me.”

“I have been a fan of Amy Ephron’s for as long as I can remember. It was my true honor to contribute to Unseasonably Cold in the role of Thessaly Edwards. And what a joy it was to record opposite the gifted Kerry O’Malley and to get to play together in the studio with these exceptional women,” Huston added.

Ephron’s novel, her tenth, follows previous books like A Cup of Tea, One Sunday Morning, White Rose, Loose Diamonds, Bruised Fruit and children’s books The Other Side of the Wall and The Castle in the Mist, among other titles.
