Kenya Power Announces Planned Electricity Maintenance in Several Counties on October 7

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity maintenance in parts of Nairobi, Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Nyeri, Murang’a, Embu, Kitui and Garissa counties on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

The scheduled interruptions will affect residential areas, markets, institutions and businesses, with outages expected to run for different periods depending on the location.

Nairobi Region

Part of Runda

Customers in parts of Runda will experience an electricity interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected areas include Runda Drive, Mimosa Road, Mimosa Vale, Runda Vale, Runda Park, Ruaka Groove and adjacent customers.

Part of Kamae

Maintenance in parts of Kamae will also run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include part of Kamae, Imela Homes, Tapaz Lounge, 277 Lounge, Saa Mbaya and adjacent customers.

North Rift Region

Aturukan, Kibomet, Mwaita, Perekera and Tuigoin — Trans Nzoia County

Parts of Trans Nzoia County will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected areas include Aturukan HT, Mt Elgon Dairies, Sinendet Centre, Kibomet PS, Bishop Yego, Sirwo Resort, Mwaita Primary School, Tuigoin Centre, Kiptenden, Kuriot, Perekera and Murgoiyo, alongside adjacent customers.

Western Region

Daraja Mbili Market — Kisumu County

Planned maintenance in parts of Kisumu County will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include Daraja Mbili Market, Koyango Market, Daraja Mbili Village, part of Manyatta B and adjacent customers.

Mt Kenya Region

Mathari Hospital and Outspan Medical College — Nyeri County

Customers in the Mathari area will experience an outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected locations include Mathari Shopping Centre, VOK Booster 1, Kagongo Village, Caritas, Transformer Area, Chania Rwamba, Mathari Hospital and Outspan Medical College, as well as adjacent customers.

Ihwagi and Ragati Tea Factory — Nyeri County

A longer maintenance window is scheduled in the Ihwagi and Ragati areas from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected locations include Ihwagi Market, Ihwagi C/Fact, Ihwagi Secondary School, Gathehu Village, Gatondo Secondary School, Kariki TBC, Kiawaiguru TBC, Gitema-Ini TBC, Itundu Market, Kangiri TBC, Gachugu-Ina TBC, Kiarage TBC, Giakaibei Market, Giakaibei Secondary School, Ndumanu Village, Kanjuri High School, Kanjuri Market, Giagathege TBC, Kiunjugi TBC, Kariambi TBC, Gitima-Ini Market, Kiangengi Market, Ragati Tea Factory, Kagochi Market, Ragati Forest Station, Kianjiru-Ini TBC and the One Km Area.

The interruption will also affect Safaricom and Airtel boosters and adjacent customers.

Kihumbuini and Mukurwe — Murang’a County

Parts of Murang’a County will experience an interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected areas include Mukurwe, Njaini, Kihumbuini Market, Mukurwe Primary Hospital and Githima Market, alongside adjacent customers.

Karurumo, Ishiara and Kanyuambora — Embu County

Maintenance in parts of Embu County will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected areas include Kamumu, Soko, Karerema, Gwakaithi PH, Karigiri PH, Murari Village, Kavengero, Canon Habert, Kabubua, Mugwanjogu, Kirigo Secondary School, Ngoce, Ciangera and Munthathara, together with adjacent customers.

North Eastern Region

Maliku, Kavisuni, Kanyangi and Kanyongonyo — Kitui County

Customers in parts of Kitui County will experience an outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected locations include Maliku Market, Kavisuni, Mandongoi Secondary School, Kanyangi Market, Kanyangi Secondary School, Zambia Water Supply and Kanyongonyo Market, as well as adjacent customers.

Sumeya, 17KR Modika and Maua Millers — Garissa County

Maintenance in parts of Garissa County is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include Maua Millers, Modika CAK, 17KR, Sumeya, Quba, Bulla Hagar and Duale Farm, alongside adjacent customers.
