Introspect on Varanasi, Nagpur losses, Congress tells BJP

NEW DELHI: A day after PM Narendra Modi’s sarcastic remark questioning the seats won by Congress in MLC polls, the party shot back that the PM should introspect why BJP lost in his constituency Varanasi, RSS headquarters of Nagpur, and other places.Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said the MLC polls — in Varanasi, Nagpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, and Patna — are a vote of no-confidence on Modi govt’s policies. Congress Maharashtra in-charge, Sirivella Prasad, said MVA won three of the five seats in the state, and the victory of Congress candidate in BJP stronghold of Nagpur “sends a strong message”.Ramesh said, “PM needs to introspect, but instead, he’s sermonising others. Before counting Congress’s seats, I wish he would also reflect on why BJP lost both seats in his own parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, and how Congress managed to defeat BJP in RSS’s stronghold of Nagpur?”Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge challenged Modi to dissolve Parliament and hold elections on ballot papers.
