Deborah Ann Woll & Luke Kirby Join Hulu’s ‘The Testaments’ For Season 2

EXCLUSIVE: The Testaments, the series following up Hulu‘s hit Margaret Atwood adaptation The Handmaid’s Tale, has added two more to Season 2: Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil: Born Again) as a recurring guest star and Luke Kirby (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as guest star.

Woll plays Sylvia, whose work as a seamstress keeps her in close proximity to the Wives and daughters of Gilead’s Commanders.

Kirby plays the literal-minded Commander Fletcher, who lives as a recluse on a farm in one of Gilead’s Colonies, where his eccentricities have made it difficult to find a wife.

This follows our scoop that Charlie Carrick, who plays Gilead’s Commander Judd, has been upped to series regular for Season 2, with Haley Wong coming aboard for the series regular role of the dutiful and pregnant wife, Prudence.

Based on Atwood’s 2019 novel, The Testaments is a dramatic coming-of-age story set in the totalitarian theocracy of Gilead that follows young teens Agnes, dutiful and pious, and Daisy, a new arrival and convert from beyond Gilead’s borders. As they navigate the gilded halls of Aunt Lydia’s elite preparatory school for future wives, a place where obedience is instilled brutally and always with divine justification, their bond becomes the catalyst that will upend their past, their present, and their future.

Chase Infiniti plays Agnes, with Lucy Halliday as Daisy, and Ann Dowd reprising her Handmaid’s Tale role of Aunt Lydia.

The Testaments is created by showrunner Bruce Miller (The Handmaid’s Tale), who exec produces alongside Warren Littlefield, Handmaid’s star Elisabeth Moss, Steve Stark, Shana Stein, Maya Goldsmith, John Weber, Sheila Hockin, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, Gianna Sobol and Mike Barker, who directed the first three episodes and finale of Season 1. The series is produced by MGM Television and 20th Television.

Season 1 premiered in April, with production on Season 2 commencing in August.

The show’s cast also includes Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies and Kira Guloien.

Recently seen reprising her role of Karen Page, friend and ally to Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil), in Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again — a role she first played in the 2015 series Daredevil — Woll is otherwise best known for starring in HBO’s True Blood. She is repped by Matt Luber & Michael Adler from Luber Roklin Entertainment.

Kirby is best known for starring roles in Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and has more recently seen opposite Jennifer Garner in the second season of Apple TV’s The Last Thing He Told Me. Next up, he’ll be seen in Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent Season 4, premiering October 1. His upcoming film projects include the MRC erotic thriller Mother’s Helper (with Shailene Woodley), indie comedy Close to Nowhere (with SNL‘s Veronika Slowikowska) and Netflix’s Better Than the Movies.
