Six-time Grand Slam doubles champion Joe Salisbury announces retirement

Former world number one doubles player Joe Salisbury announced his retirement from professional tennis on Thursday.

The announcement comes after Salisbury’s run to the semifinal at the recently concluded US Open 2026, where he was paired alongside American long-time partner ‌Rajeev Ram.

The six-time Grand Slam doubles champion said that he is “very happy with the decision” to step away from the court at the age of 34.

“Tennis has been my life for as long as I can remember, and I have been incredibly fortunate to have had all the opportunities, experiences and success that I have,” he wrote in a post on Instagram.

“I’m not sure what’s next for me, but I know I have so much to look forward to and so much to be happy right now, and I know that all the highs and lows, good times and bad on this crazy tennis journey have made me a stronger and better person,” he added.
