KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — A 24-year-old bank assistant sales manager claimed trial at the Magistrate's Court here today to three traffic charges, including causing the death of a five-year-old girl in a six-vehicle collision along Jalan Kuching last weekend.

Raeven Goh pleaded not guilty to all counts after they were read out before Magistrate Aliaa Anwar, FMT reported.

On the primary charge, Goh is accused of causing the death of Asiah Ahmad Syahir by recklessly driving his BYD Seal electric vehicle along Jalan Kuching, heading towards Segambut, at around 3.44pm on Oct 10.

The charge, framed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, carries a prison sentence of between five and 10 years, a fine ranging from RM20,000 to RM50,000, and a minimum five-year disqualification from holding a driving licence upon conviction.

Goh also claimed trial to a secondary charge of reckless and dangerous driving under Section 42(1) of the same Act, which provides for up to five years in jail, a fine between RM5,000 and RM15,000, and licence disqualification for at least five years.

On the third charge under Section 52(1), he denied failing to stop his vehicle immediately following the road collision, an offence punishable by a maximum fine of RM2,000 or up to six months' imprisonment.

Aliaa granted Goh bail at RM36,000 with one surety covering all three charges. As part of his bail conditions, the court ordered him to surrender his passport and suspended his driving licence until the conclusion of the trial.

The court fixed Nov 19 for case management.

Deputy public prosecutors Fadhly Zamry and Wafi Husain led the prosecution, while counsel Kailash Sharma represented Goh.
