Anwar recalls Sungai Buloh Prison memories

KUALA LUMPUR: "Memories of Sungai Buloh. Meeting family behind glass, communicating only through a telephone."

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reflected on what is believed to be a period of his incarceration at Sungai Buloh Prison in a Facebook post last midnight.

He also uploaded a photograph of himself behind a glass partition and iron bars while holding a telephone receiver.

"A moment that remains in my memory," he wrote briefly, accompanied by the hashtag #throwback.

However, Anwar did not state when the photograph was taken.

The post attracted the attention of social media users, garnering more than 26,000 likes.

The post also drew various reactions from netizens.

A user, Ruqayyah Abd Fatah, prayed that Anwar would continue leading the country in the future.

"I pray that PMX will remain strong in leading the country for the coming terms.

"There is nothing wrong with remembering the past. Prophet Yusuf also went from prison to becoming the highest ruler of Egypt," she wrote.

Norazliza Ghazali, meanwhile, wrote briefly: "From behind iron bars to becoming prime minister."

Kimmy P Sigayon described the photograph shared by Anwar as a truly valuable moment.
