'Nana Patekar's mortal remains sent for postmortem': Doctor

Veteran actor Nana Patekar, one of the country's most notable stars, passed away at his Goa residence in the early hours of Thursday morning, at age 75.An official confirmation from the Manipal Hospital, Goa, stated that the actor was found unconscious at his Dona Paula, residence and was rushed to the hospital.In a video statement to the media, Dr Shekhar Salkar shared the details about the actor's final moments. Recalling the events of the night, Dr Salkar shared, "Nana Patekar was brought dead to the hospital, somewhere around 4.30 am and was declared dead by 5.30 am. We had tried our best to save him, but he was brought dead. Cardiac massage was given for almost 45 minutes to 1 hour, but he just could not be saved."
Reconstructing the timeline of events from the early hours of thursday morning, the doctor said, "Somewhere around 2.30 am, he sent a message to his friend that he was not feeling well.
But as it was night, he could not see the message. He went to his house at around 4 am. At that time, he was sweating. He was slowly becoming unconscious, so they sent his caretaker because they stay near the hospital."The doctor also revealed that it was the actor's caretaker and friends who rushed him to the hospital, he shared that "His family was not there."The doctor added, "The caretaker came to the hospital, took our ambulance and went with our ER team.
They started cardiac massage and shifted him to the hospital somewhere around 4.20 am or 4.30 am. We also tried here to our maximum, but he was brought dead."He also confirmed that a formal police case has been registered and confirmed, "The body has now been taken to the morgue in Goa Medical College for postmortem."
In a statement to PTI, he shared that investigation into the cause of death is on. He said, "It was a cardiac arrest, but we do not know the cause.
He was a known cardiac patient and was on medication, as far as we have been told."Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar announced that Nana Patekar would be accorded a state funeral in recognition of his immense contribution to Indian cinema. In a post on X, Ashish Shelar wrote, "Considering the unparalleled contribution of actor Nana Patekar to Marathi plays as well as Marathi and Hindi cinema, we have decided to conduct his last rites 'with full state honors'."He also spoke to the media and expressed his grief over the actor's demise. "The departure of Nana Patekar ji is a profound loss for the world of art. Emerging from the lanes of Yeola, he carved out his identity in Marathi theatre, Marathi and Hindi cinema through the strength of his talent and perseverance.
