Moritz Seider Calls Detroit Red Wings "A Hell Of A Group" While Addressing Dylan Larkin Situation

Translate

Moritz Seider has made it clear that the Detroit Red Wings are ready to move forward after Dylan Larkin's decision to leave the organization. Thursday's 4-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks came during an emotional day for the franchise, with Larkin suspended without pay after informing the team he would no longer play while awaiting a trade. Seider acknowledged the personal side of the situation but also stressed the importance of the players remaining together. Alex DeBrincat shared a similar message, emphasizing the team's commitment to supporting one another.

Moritz Seider Wants Red Wings to Turn the Page After Larkin Exit

Seider finished Thursday's win with an assist and 18:49 of ice time. Speaking after the game, the defenseman said the result carried additional importance because of everything happening around the team.

“It meant a little more,” Seider said. “I think it came down to that this is our squad and we got a really good group in here.”

Although Larkin's departure was difficult for his teammates, Seider said he wanted the former captain to find happiness with his next team.

“It's tough, but in the end, you just want him to be happy. If that's not here, hopefully it's somewhere else,” Seider said.  "It's kinda hard to put that player aspect aside and just see it as a friend, but ultimately that's my goal. Nevertheless, we still have a hell of a group in here."

He also explained that the players had welcomed Larkin despite his trade request and wanted to put the situation behind them.

“You just get sick and tired of answering the same question over and over again,” Seider said. “I think now it's good to just put it in the past, turn the page and get really excited for whoever we get, whatever pick we're going to get.”

Alex DeBrincat and Todd McLellan React to Dylan Larkin's Departure

Alex DeBrincat believes the challenges surrounding the Detroit Red Wings have brought the players closer together.

“I think we can rally around the adversity we've faced so far. I don't think it's necessarily been easy, but we've come together as a group and decided we're gonna stick up for each other, play for each other every day and come to the rink, work hard.”

DeBrincat also made it clear that the players who remain in Detroit are ready to move forward without focusing on Larkin's decision.

“It's his decision,” he said of Larkin. “We're happy with the guys who are here and we're confident in our group here. We're ready to move forward and keep getting wins.”

Head coach Todd McLellan acknowledged that the ongoing discussion about Larkin's trade request had become a distraction. He said the team was ready to put the situation behind it.
