WAFU B U17: Black Starlets target AFCON qualification against Ivory Coast

Ghana's Black Starlets will look to book their place at the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations when they face Ivory Coast in the semi-finals of the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship on Tuesday.

Ghana head into the fixture unbeaten after a group-stage campaign in which they collected seven points from three matches to finish top of Group A.

Head coach Kassim Ocansey and his technical team have completed preparations for the encounter, holding their final training session at the Salitas Academy Complex on Monday.

“We’ve prepared very well for this game,” Kassim said.

“This game is more important than even the final. Because the team that wins this game qualifies for the AFCON. If you don’t win here, whatever you have done in the tournament becomes Cos 90. So, we’ve prepared very well for it.”

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast will also be determined to reach the final and qualify for the continental tournament.

The Ivorians advanced to the last four after drawing 1-1 with Nigeria to finish second in Group B, behind group winners Niger.
