In the first incident at 11.38pm, a Rapid bus and a Modenas Z250 motorcycle collided along Jalan Mayang Pasir, in front of Sunshine Square 1, Bayan Lepas.
Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director John Sagun Francis said eight personnel from the Bayan Baru fire station were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
"Upon arrival, rescuers found two victims from the motorcycle. A 23-year-old woman, who was pinned in front of the bus, was extricated at 11.55pm and rushed to Penang Hospital by a community ambulance after receiving initial treatment.
"The second victim, a 29-year-old motorcyclist identified as Goy Wee Sherng, was trapped beneath the front of the bus. He was extricated at 12.30am and pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel," he said in a statement.
Francis said the bus driver escaped unhurt, adding that the deceased's body was handed over to the police for further action.
