‘NCIS: Origins’ to Reunite Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly on Screen For the First Time in 10 Years

Translate

Gibbs and Tony are reuniting after 10 years. On next Tuesday’s episode of “NCIS: Origins,” Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly will share the screen as their “NCIS” characters for the first time in a decade.

Harmon (as Leroy Jethro Gibbs) and Weatherly (as Tony DiNozzo) spent 13 seasons appearing together on “NCIS”; they were last seen together in the “NCIS” Season 13 season finale, when Tony left the agency.

But both actors have been once again active in the “NCIS”verse as of late: Harmon, who’s an executive producer on “NCIS: Origins,” appears in all of the show’s episodes this season, as part of a present-day mystery that has to do with his days at Camp Pendleton in the 1990s. Weatherly, meanwhile, returned to the “NCIS” cast this season as the show returned for Season 24 on Oct. 6.

In the Gibbs/DiNozzo reunion episode of “NCIS: Origins,” which airs Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS (streaming on Paramount+), Gibbs returns to NCIS’ D.C. headquarters to enlist the help of DiNozzo (now the new NCIS director) after Gibbs was shot by unknown assailants.

“NCIS: Origins” Season 3 premiere (on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 10 p.m. ET) averaged 4.39 million viewers, up 20% from its premiere a year ago, according to CBS. It was the No. 1 broadcast show in its slot.

“NCIS: Origins” stars Austin Stowell as a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Austin Stowell) in the early 1990s, prior to the events of “NCIS.” Harmon narrates the series, which also stars Kyle Schmid, Mariel Molino, Tyla Abercrumbie, Diany Rodriguez and Caleb Foote.

The series comes from CBS Studios. “NCIS: Origins” is executive produced by David J. North, Mark Harmon, Sean Harmon, Michele Greco and Eric Christian Olsen.
