Viral video shows the reptile moving under a sleeper berth

A routine train journey turned unsettling for passengers after a long snake was reportedly spotted inside the sleeper coach of the Katihar Express while the train was on the move.

A video showing the reptile emerging from beneath a berth and moving through the coach has since gone viral on social media.According to Amar Ujala report, the incident is said to have taken place at night on the Katihar Express travelling towards Kolkata. The video, shared on social media shows a snake emerging from underneath a side-lower berth in a sleeper coach. Passengers can be heard reacting with alarm as the reptile moves across the floor.

Snake emerges from under berth

In the footage, the snake appears to come out from the area beneath a side-lower berth before moving towards the end of the coach. It eventually disappears behind a train door, with part of its body and tail remaining visible.The sudden appearance of the reptile appears to have caught passengers off guard. Some people can be seen keeping their distance, while others appear to be attempting to move the snake away.After the video went viral, social media users raised questions about how the snake may have entered the coach and about cleanliness and maintenance inside train compartments.

Some social media posts have claimed that the snake resembles a common krait, a highly venomous snake found in India.

Importantly, the incident is currently being reported on the basis of a viral video and social media claims. TOI could not independently verify the authenticity of the video at the time of writing.The footage has nevertheless attracted widespread attention, with the sight of a snake moving through a sleeper coach highlighting the concerns that can arise when an unexpected animal enters a confined passenger space.
