Could Michael Sheen win Celebrity Traitors? Good Omens co-star David Tennant delivers his verdict

Translate

David Tennant has offered his thoughts on Michael Sheen's chances of survival inside the treacherous Celebrity Traitors castle.

The second season of the juggernaut competition got under way this week, with acclaimed actor Sheen among the players hoping to secure cash for their chosen charity.

Of course, the two prominent talents became a much-loved partnership on fantasy drama Good Omens and their subsequent pandemic-era sitcom Staged.

As viewers eagerly await tonight's episode, Tennant gave Radio Times some insight into how his former co-star might have dealt with the show's stressful conditions.

Tennant joked: "Well, he's a chameleon, isn't he? He could be a different person every day, in full prosthetics, and they'll be going, 'Who the f**k is that? Why is Chris Tarrant here?'"

Indeed, Sheen does have a reputation for transformative performances, from presenter Tarrant in ITV's Quiz, to David Frost in Frost/Nixon, and Tony Blair in The Queen.

This knack for disappearing into characters, Tennant speculated, would make Sheen a "brilliant" choice for Team Traitor – although, his reputation could also arouse suspicion.

"I wouldn't put [reaching the final] past him," continued Tennant.

"I don't think The Celebrity Traitors is something I'd want to do – I'd find it very stressful – but I'm very glad it exists."

He added: "I'd be very bad at it because I'm not great at deception, whereas Michael's brilliant at it! He'll be thrilled if he's picked or seduced to be a traitor."

We won't reveal here whether Sheen was picked or not, just in case you're yet to catch up on the season premiere – but you can find out the full line-up of players here.

For those who are caught up, you can read what the producer had to say on episode 1's shock moment, which drew enormous viewership to BBC One last night.
