Doctor Who's Jodie Whittaker reunites with Mandip Gill for "action-packed" adventure

Translate

Doctor Who stars Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill are set to reunite for a new "action-packed" adventure featuring one of the Doctor's most famous enemies.

Whittaker, 44, and Gill, 38, will reprise their roles as the Thirteenth Doctor and Yasmin Khan in upcoming audio drama Armageddon Dawn, which will see the pair come face-to-face with the Daleks.

The new story marks the first audio encounter between the Thirteenth Doctor, Yaz and the Daleks, with Nicholas Briggs once again providing the voices of the Doctor's deadly enemies.

Armageddon Dawn sees the Doctor decide it's time to confront the Aegis Protectorate, an interstellar arms manufacturer which has been causing trouble throughout her recent adventures.

However, when the Doctor and Yaz confront the company at the height of its powers, they discover Aegis boss Athena Nikos (Juliet Aubrey) entertaining some unexpected clients.

Tech entrepreneur Esskapell (Amit Shah) wants control of Aegis for his own reasons – but so does the mysterious "Dalek Negotiator", leaving the Doctor and Yaz caught in the middle.

Writer Matt Fitton teased that he wanted to "raise the stakes" for the Thirteenth Doctor after her previous encounters with the Daleks on television.

"As script editor on this run of adventures (and as a Northerner!), I couldn't wait to write for the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz, so leapt at the chance for the pivotal episode Armageddon Dawn," he said.

"While we've seen this Doctor face Daleks on Earth on TV, I wanted to raise the stakes even higher here. So as the Dalek Empire tries to get its suckers on Aegis, what I really wanted to do was lock her in a room with her greatest enemy and see what they really think of one another!"

Fitton added that the Doctor and Yaz will be "put through the wringer", with the story also featuring the return of the mysterious Tourist (Maddison Bulleyment) and Athena Nikos.

Armageddon Dawn is the ninth instalment in a series of 12 full-cast audio adventures starring Whittaker and Gill, which are being released every two months.

Whittaker played the Thirteenth Doctor on television from 2017 until 2022, while Gill starred alongside her as companion Yaz throughout the Doctor's tenure.

Doctor Who: Armageddon Dawn will be released by Big Finish in November 2026.
