Below attracted a record audience on Netflix over the weekend.

The limited series about a fisherman (Josh Hartnett) whose small Newfoundland hometown is terrorized by a mysterious sea creature baited 17 million views from its debut on October 8 through Sunday evening, marking the most-viewed debut ever for a Netflix Canadian title, per the streamer.

Below also handily secured the top spot on the English TV list for the week of October 5 to 11.

Second place went to East of Eden, which nearly doubled its viewership from its opening weekend with 12.6 million views. Zoe Kazan’s adaptation of Steinbeck’s classic novel had an underwhelming launch with just 6.5 million views — Netflix’s lowest No. 1 opening since March.

Interestingly, third place went to Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1, which landed on Netflix last week and tallied 4.1 million views as it found a new audience. The series’ third season will to premiere on Disney+ next month.

Elsewhere, Mojo Brookz: I Know You Lying, the debut Netflix special from the stand-up comedian, nabbed the No. 4 spot on the English TV list with 3.3 million views, and Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story claimed fifth place with 3 million views. The Gentlemen Season 2 nabbed the No. 8 spot with 2 million views, and reality competition series Wonka’s The Golden Ticket won No. 9 on the list with 1.9 million views. A Different World, which has already been renewed, clocked in at No. 10 spot, also with 1.9 million views.

On the film side of things, Ben Affleck’s Animals launched at No. 1 with 23.8 million views. Tyler Perry’s Doing Life rose to second place with 18.2 million views. UNABOMBER, in which Jacob Tremblay portrays domestic terrorist Ted Kaczynski, seized No. 7 with 7.3 million views.
